Torreymao Bengals is a small breeding programme located in Helensville

Careful consideration of lines are helping us breed beautifully spotted and marbled, Brown and Snow, soft pelted kittens with exquisite glitter and excellent temperaments.

The Bengal cat is the purrfect pet!!!

They are intelligent, easily trained, curious, very loving and unlike other domestic cats, they have a fascination for running water.

OK, so you are looking for a Bengal kitten.

Now that you have looked at all the pretty pictures you have come to the end of the line....the "info page"

If you can take the time to read this, understand, accept and agree with it, then you may just be the kind of family that we are looking for to adopt one of our kittens.

Torreymao Bengals is a small breeding programme. We have spent a lot of time and money to ensure that we have some of the best Bengal cats in New Zealand.

We are aiming for Quality NOT Quantity.

You will be eager to get your new kitten but we do not allow our kittens to leave for their new home until they are 12 weeks old.

Our kittens wean "themselves" from their Mum. The kittens start to eat solids at around 5 weeks old. At this stage they will then start to use a litter box. They learn to do this by watching their mother. At 8 weeks old they receive their first vaccination and their second at eleven and a half weeks of age along with a full veterinary examination. Our kittens are also de-sexed at this time.

By the time the kittens leave for their new home at 12 weeks old they have been well socialised with family and friends other cats and a dog.

Now they are old enough to cope with new experiences without to much fear or stress.

They have learned how to play, without being too rough, how to use the litter box and how to interact with people and other animals.

Our kittens have become quite used to the daily activities of our household. When it is time for them to leave for their new home, they are mentally and physically ready to make the big change.

It is because of the way our kittens have been raised that I have this rule:

I will not home one of my kittens to you if you are away from home for long periods of time and do not have a companion pet for your kitten to play with.

Bengals are very social animals and have been bought up in our home as such.

I will want to know about you!

Where do you live? What do you know about Bengals? Have you made preparations for you new kitten?

By the time you have your new kitten, we will have spoken many times via email and phone. I will endeavor to send you weekly updates and pictures of your new kitten.

So there it is.....

By now you will have realised that our Cats and Kittens are part of our family. I breed Bengals as a hobby. We are not a business.

When you come to visit, a chat around the dining room table with a cuppa is the norm. My house is my home so there are no "airs and graces." Tea and coffee are served in a mug. The milk comes out of a bottle not a crystal jug and there is no silver service. The cats and kittens will climb all over you....and probably the children as well.

If you get a kitten from Torreymao Bengals and I never hear from you again or visa versa, you will be the first. We have made some wonderful friends though the homing of my kitty babies. (Long may it continue)

If this sounds like the sort of place that you would like to get a Bengal kitten from, then I look forward to hearing from you.

If not, then I still thank you for your visit to my web page and your time.

Our Bengal kittens are raised in the home with young children and lots of love. Fire's quarters are separate to the house but he still gets his share of cuddles.

BENGAL BASICS

After several queries of late regarding Pattern and Colour I have put together some basic notes. If you require any additional information on Bengals, please email me with your question and I will do my best to answer it for you.

The Bengal Cat has two patterns, Spotted or Marble and have two recognised colours, Brown and Snow.

Brown is not really a good description in my opinion because it can be a little confusing as it covers a range of colours from grey through to auburn as a base colour.

Snow's have 3 classifications:
• Mink: (green or aqua eyes)
• Lynx: (blue eyed)
• Sepia: (gold eyed)
• A snow's base colour varies from a creamy white through to a beige or light brown.

There are also several non traditional colours:

Black, Blue, Silver, Red, Cinnamon and Tortie.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those that have helped me in respect to my breeding programme.

Firstly, a huge thank you to Suzanne Hatcher of Tijah Bengals Australia. Sue has been a dream to deal with. Not only allowing me the privilege of owning HB but also for her support with his passing and the offer of a replacement Stud boy. I eagerly await the birth of this little man in the early New Year. I also look forward to purchasing more exceptional breeding kittens from Sue as our programme develops.

Secondly to Annette Norris of Tigerlands Bengals NZ. (Breeder of Jungle Jazz and Rosie). Thank you Annette, I look forward to these girls doing wonderful things for my breeding programme.

Thirdly a big thank you to Stephanie Boyd-Dunlop of Imprints NZ for pulling out all the stops to help me continue with Breeding when I felt all was lost and to David and Jacqui Scadden of Laplepid Bengals for your unfailing support, guidance, advice and time as my mentors.

And last but not least, thank you to my husband Doug for all your support and money <giggle> and all the past and future adoptive parents of Torreymao kittens for giving me the opportunity to continue to breed these beautiful cats.

Smiles Joy-Maree
